We are a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. We serve the world's poor—regardless of a person's religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

WORLD VISION is a nonprofit Christian humanitarian organization committed to serving God by working with the poor and oppressed. The work of World Vision includes long-term community development projects focused especially on the needs of children, emergency relief assisting people affected by conflict or disaster, promotion of justice seeking to change unjust structures, strategic initiatives serving the church, public awareness, and witness to Jesus Christ by life, deed, word and sign.

In 2004,

  • 1.9 million people gained access to clean water. Such access can cut child mortality rates in half.
  • $85 million were given in small loans which created or sustained 577,000 jobs in poor communities. (97% loan repayment rate - $376 average loan size)
  • 10.9 million disaster victims received emergency assistance.
  • 80 humanitarian emergencies were addressed around the world.
  • $215 million was raised in 2004 to save lives and rebuild communities in the wake of disasters.
  • 2 million children received educational assistance to prepare for a better future.
  • 294,000 orphans and vulnerable children were sponsored in 15 countries devastated by AIDS.
  • 810,000 mothers were trained in better health and nutrition to benefit their children and themselves.
  • 4,000 schools were built or refurbished in 2004 to provide eager children a safe place to learn.

World Vision is deeply committed to living out our core values and fulfilling our mission within the world. This past year, programs and projects of the World Vision partnership touched the lives of more than fifty million people.
